Once a year, the fashion industry flocks down under for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week: Australia. With Sydney as a spectacular backdrop, we enjoyed a showcase of some of the best Australian fashion talent. When we weren’t running to shows or meeting designers, we did a little exploring. Here are some of our Sydney favorites – it may be far from Fifth Avenue, but add this charming city to your travel list ASAP.
Bondi Beach: a short ride from the heart of the city, hit the beach for spectacular views. And the surfers aren't bad either.
Sydney Opera House: A stunning building designed by Jørn Utzon, it houses multiple theaters for performances ranging from dance, to opera, to musical theater. Something from everyone.
Must try: a flat white. An Australian original, the beverage is prepared by pouring microfoam (with a velvety consistency) over a single shot of espresso.
Old Clare Hotel: a boutique hotel in Chippendale, this cool spot was the hub for Fashion Week. You'll find a beautiful bar, restaurant and roof top pool. Photo: @emmakatesampson
Icebergs: located at the top of Bondi Beach, the stunning view sets the scene for a spectacular experience.
One of the best ways to see the city is by water: charter a boat for exceptional views of the iconic Sydney Harbor bridge.
Bennelong: located in the Sydney Opera House, this was our most special meal of the week. Nothing beats watching an open kitchen in front of sparkly views of the city.
What we ate: a hot Lobster bun, Sydney rock oysters, roasted organic carrots, and salad of smoked eggplant.
Taronga Zoo: hop on a water taxi and explore this sprawling zoo. Graceful giraffes happily feed against one of the best views of the city.
