Super Adventures of Kelly Florio Kasouf
First: Imagine that you’re five or six years old. Rambunctious. Curious. And sly.
Second: You’ve snuck into Conde Nast and Isaac Mizrahi is your fashion fairy godfather. This is not your typical 4 Times Square. Here the elevators are magic, opening their doors to Egypt, New York Fashion Week, Vogue’s legendary fashion closet (complete with Prada’s banana prints, Miu Miu’s Shattered Glass) and an enchanted mannequin (sporting McQueen’s blooming Sarabande gown) with savvy connections at the Costume Institute.
This is the dreamy, water-colored world of Kelly Florio Kasouf’s The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City. Inspired by the author’s own childhood spent within the walls of the publication powerhouse, Sophie’s adventures are an homage to Kasouf’s late father (former Conde Nast Publications president and CEO Steve Florio), the fashion industry and wide-eyed childhood imagination. Colorfully illustrated by Judit Garcia-Talavera, Sophie’s adventures come to life through intricate pen-drawings sweeping each page, boldly imagining the whimsical thrills of getting lost during a secret day spent with daddy.
