Most of spring is a skip through the happy fields of prints and patterns and bold color — however, we couldn’t help but notice that a few hues got a bit of a chrome polish thanks to the Tom Ford Spring Lacquer and Cream Color for Eyes collections (212 872 2813). With tough-but-ladylike colors like Burnished Rouge (we call it Bitter Bitch 2.0) and Silver Smoke, Ford — as well as our friends at Paul & Joe (212 872 2759) and Le Metier de Beaute (212 872 8612) had us lacquering up with a metallic sheen.

Keep nails trimmed short for a downtown edge and pair with jewelry that feels equally strong — think Made Her Think, Eddie Borgo, Kelly Wearstler and even pieces from Mr. Ford’s own jewelry collection (212 872 8793). Going for a low-key weekend look? Follow 5F’s focus on White and create an all-white denim/tank combo. You’ll discover feelings of ethereal delight upon seeing how well chrome goes with white. Another route to follow is that of leather beyond the moto-jacket — like t-shirts and shorts. Keep your kicks muted (spikes and such could feel a bit too… ChaCha DiGregorio) so look to wedged high-tops from Ash, Elizabeth & James skimmers or even a modernist Alice + Olivia slingback (212 872 8941).
