Spring Highlight: Florals
Whether vegetation, flora or fauna, the mix mastery of prints on all scales is a thrill this Spring…
And nothing got us more in the mood for the prints of Altuzarra, Dries Van Noten and Givenchy more than opening weekend at the New York Botanical Garden’s Orchid Show. While floral isn’t exactly ground-breaking for spring, we’ve noticed that more and more designers have begun to digitize them into a kaleidoscope of graphic prints. Mastering the mixing of prints & florals is something we’re going to investigate at depth this week, so we thought that we’d set the tone with a few of the blooms that we spied within the glass walls of the Botanical Garden. While some of the orchids were recognizable (phaleonopsis and the like), we were entirely transported to almost-primordial, other-worldly terrain upon visiting the Central and South American jungle habitats.
If you haven’t visited the Botanical Garden, we highly recommend doing so — not only will it completely transport you beyond Fashion City’s paved streets, the Conservatory’s humid rooms will give your skin a recognizable relief. Also, when visiting the Orchid Show, include #orchidshow when sharing your tweets & instagrams so that others can enjoy your imagery! You also can see more orchid photos on the Botanical Garden’s Pinterest.
