NYFW: Diane von Furstenberg
WHO: Diane von Furstenberg
BIO: Belgian designer Diane von Furstenberg became a fashion icon during the 1970s when she introduced the world to her incredibly flattering but still easy to wear printed wrap dress. Lauded as a pioneer in feminist fashion, von Furstenberg and creative director Yvan Mispelaere continues to strengthen the DvF heritage with bold prints, playful accessories and strong personality.
FUN FACT: In addition to running her own DvF brand, Diane is president of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America)
ABOUT THE FALL COLLECTION: It’s a beautiful fall in the world of Diane von Furstenberg — rich in bold color and punctuated with playful points of exclamation (whether it be an accessory, cheeky print or even a punctuation mark). While red dominated many of New York’s Fall 2012 runways, von Furstenberg and creative director Yvan Mispelaere injected their collection with a sea of color (obsidian, scarlet red, electric chartreuse, roseberry, teal and violet), establishing one of the most sophisticated color palettes of the season. Their prints this season are bold yet furtive, toying us with quotation marks, keyholes and scattered puzzle pieces. Called a redez-vous, this is a collection rife with billowing color, feminine shapes and the kind of confidence that only von Furstenberg can dream up.
