Believe it or not, Memorial Day weekend is here.

And while this week’s weather may not seem perfectly pitched for barbecues, beach bathing and such, we are determined to be ready when the sun finally decides to shine this Saturday.  So, with our Jitney and LIRR tickets at the ready, this is what we’re planning to pack this Memorial Day Weekend.

Memorial Day weekend typically kicks off summer poolside fashion — so we’re packing the latest styles from just-arrived We Are Handsome (we’re particularly keen for their photo-print bikinis and short-sleeve one-piece) as well as classic Vilebrequin prints for the boys (212 339 3313).  Swimwear is a tricky thing to navigate at the beginning of each season, so do review our swim fit guide or pop by our Swim Event this Wednesday, May 23.

Beach Reads

Part of what makes Memorial Day weekend so deliciously relaxing is that it’s our first taste of Summer Fridays — long, lingering afternoons spent nose-diving into the latest or most-beloved books.  If you want your fashion fix, we must recommend Paul Morand’s The Allure of Chanel or Ines des la Fressange’s Parisian Chic (212 872 8960).  If getting lost in Fashion City’s streets is more your pace, try out Peter Hedges’ The Heights.
