Find the right fit: No matter if you’re a featherweight or Sitting Tall, there’a right fit for you. Presenting our denim guide. FEATHERWEIGHT Amusement Parks still insist on double-checking your height, you can’t reach the subway’s overhead bar… in other words: you’re short Some may call you petite, but the long & short of it is that finding the right fit is a constant hunt for jeans that don’t make you look shorter than reality or need rolling up at the cuffs… Lucky for you, we know a thing or two about being shorter than average… we also know that an Ankle Skinny can look pretty splendid (no cuff-rolling required) and that a High-Waisted Flare can actually make your legs look just a bit longer (particularly when paired with platforms & wedges). Avoid a crop-leg – that’ll just crop what leg you have in half. Steer clear of a super low-rise – unless, of course, you like your legs looking shorter. And don’t worry: we know you’ll be needing to adjust the hemline. So we’ll take care of the hemming so long as you show us you checked in via FourSquare.
SITTING TALL You tend to take command at meetings… and that’s because you’re sitting higher & mightier than most (particularly when you remember to hold your shoulders back) Most call you long-waisted, but we like to think of it as having a seated advantage. Unfortunately, there is a disadvantage – and that’s finding jeans that raise the waist. That’s where the high-rises come in: try a High-Waisted Skinny or a High- Waisted Flare. Soon enough, your legs will look longer and you’ll still be sitting tall – no matter what. And here’s a tip for you: keep your shirt tucked into your high- waisted denims; that will make your waist look trimmer & higher than ever before. Avoid all that is low-waisted and low-slung; and, like your petite friends above, steer clear of the cropped. STRAIGHT & NARROW You’re who the small girls envy: you’re long & lean and your legs seem to have their own latitudinal address. Finding your dream denim can be a bit of a breeze… because, let’s be honest, everything fits. So your challenge is to find a pair that’s long & leggy (unless you’re preparing for the next flood).
For the most part, though, your possibilities are endless: Skinnies always work – we like them paired classically with an over-sized oxford shirt & ballet flats. You also can try a high-waisted straight leg, flared leg or boot cut… because, when it comes to the Straight & Narrow, anything works. THE HIPSTER And we don’t mean the L-Train-riding-to Williamsburg-type. Your hips don’t lie and, the the truth is, they’d like to be seen… and admired. So why not give your curves what they deserve? No matter if they’re peachy keen or the apple of Fashion City’s eye, you can find a pair that fits & flatters. Replace your baggy blues with that which has just the slightest bit of flare. A mid-rise boot cut with a wider waistband will cover without pinching. If you’re a bit fuller, aim for a higher waist with a boot cut or wide leg; inky indigo is the color to request. If you’re little in the middle, balance your hip with the slightest flare. Avoid jazzy pockets – they’ll only make things appear larger. Also, look for darker washes as they’ll keep your sweet silhouette streamlined and trim.
