After celebrating over 10 years with Bergdorf Goodman, jewelry designer Ippolita continues to inspire us with her subtle, soulful pieces.  In honor of her Spring Collection, the designer muses on Modern Femininity and the women who inspire her most.

In my mind, a modern woman is limitless and unapologetically confident in who she is. There are many who epitomize this – my list could go on and on – but at this moment I can think of three women who define this for me:

Artist Tamara De Lempicka:
With her forceful personality, extravagant wardrobe and unmistakable art, she was a true visionary for her time. I find her unconventional life as inspiring as her distinctive paintings.

Janis Joplin:
One of my first records growing up was Pearl – I played it over and over and was fascinated by how unabashedly she sang and how much she was her own woman in a male-dominated industry.

My daughter Maya:
How a young woman can be so self-confident and supremely self-aware at such a young age is inspiring to me. I am in awe of how much I learn from her.

To me the essence of modern femininity means being comfortable in your own skin, no matter what kind of lifestyle you lead. My jewelry is really designed for the modern woman, and meant to be worn every day. Its jewelry that makes you feel more beautiful, more sexy, more comfortable… more you.
