Here Comes the Flower Girl
We’re all familiar with the image: the perfect wedding, the beautiful bride, the pretty bridesmaids, grinning groom & groomsmen, incorrigible ring bearer and the fluttering troupe of flower girls. Typically our eyes are drawn to the bride: her dress (Monique? Ines? Oscar?) and how her veil drifts perfectly over her gown. But it is the prelude to her walk down the aisle that gives us all giggles… those darling flower girls spilling fistfuls of petals behind them.
Later we’ll see them at the reception; they’ll be sipping their third Shirley Temple (through a straw, of course) through the gap from their most recently-lost tooth, dancing on the father of the bride’s toes, spinning and twirling with the animated bridesmaids, and not missing a single word of Beyonce’s A the Single Ladies. A flower girl dress can be a precarious find: it must be sweet, appropriate, delicate… but worthy of the frothy whirling dervishes that will unfold before the band. Enter Joan Calabrese.
Joan’s collection of flower girl, communion and special occasion dresses have just enough puff to delight your daughter. This weekend Joan will present her Spring Collection featuring exclusive designs as well as one-of-a-kind fabrics and beadwork hand-sewn in her Pennsylvania atelier. This is a rare opportunity to view and make special orders on one-of-a-kind designs, so we highly recommend scheduling an appointment (212 872 2851). When there, look for couture-quality dresses fit for first communions, weddings and other special occasions that will your little lady (12mo-14 years) twirling giddily through the night.
