Fashion Month: Packing for Europe
Linda Fargo shares her packing tips & tricks
Now that New York Fashion Week is over, our teams are crossing the pond to see Fall 2012 from the runways of London, Milan and Paris. How does one pack for a three-week journey such as this?
Our Fashion Directress Linda Fargo shares her packing wisdom and know-how with 5th/58th.
Meet my trusty T Anthony Trio…
These used to be beautifully crisp black and white. Now, not so much… but I’m addicted to their function. T.Anthony stopped making the folding garment bag! I consider this bag a true portable closet. I have little-to-none folding, so I simply lay my clothes in and zip zip zip; hang it back up, zip zip zip. I love this system.
The biggest issue is having options more than practicality and economy. I seem to fill this closet whether I’m going on a 3-week fashion tour or on just a three-day weekend in Miami. Must must must have a wheelie. Have you ever had your luggage lost during Fashion Week? The 3rd bag is expandable — VIP!
Organizing the Looks
When you’re thinking of how to dress for three weeks, it’s better to visualize while you organize. I picked up a rolling rack from Home Depot to make things easy. Piles begin… but it all makes sense in the end!
The Bed Comes in Handy!
I make a big stew of my current fashion loves. Now it’s color, leopard and black textures. Don’t worry: I will make sense of this all!
Survival Kit
I like to keep stow-aways home’s comforts at an arm’s length… and I never can forget my trusty Moleskines!
Plan in Advance
Leave out your actual travel clothes. Something you won’t be embarrassed to have to wear if your bags don’t make it! (I find black trousers with a striped shirt and jacket are a good way to jet)
