DKNY PR GIRL Picks: Donna Karan Spring

1 27 2012

You know that moment. Someone enters the room and you are blown away by the way they look. Poised, effortless, yet perfectly pulled together. Sexy, but not over the top. A look that makes necks hurt from all the craning. A look that I like to call “stare-worthy”.

I have worked in Public Relations at Donna Karan for 14 years. I know the clothes inside and out. But more importantly, I know the effect they have on the people who wear them (celebrities included).

Donna talks a lot about sensuality and how the clothes feel on the body. But I like to focus on how the clothes make YOU feel. Confident. Powerful. Hot. Should I go on?

I always say that if you didn’t make an entrance, you picked the wrong look. So grab a pen and take notes because your closet called and is bored to tears. It’s time to spice it up so here’s what I think you need for Spring 2012…

Printed Draped Bodice Dress, 212 872 8747

Do you remember Fantasy Island? Anyway, this is what I would have worn to walk off the plane. Flirty, romantic and effortless. Love.

Patchwork Halter Top & Mask-Print A-Line Skirt, 212 872 8747

I have a serious love for circle skirts. I love the way they move when you walk. Very Audrey H, yet very modern in this Haitian inspired print. This is a style envy skirt, you know the one where you get a million “omg I love your skirt! Whose is it?!”

Slash Draped Jersey Dress, 212 872 8747

This rust and orange draped jersey number is chic and super versatile. I could see myself pairing it with a high cork wedge during the summer and then throwing a blazer over it with some tights come fall.

Tri-Color Graphic Spliced Jacket & Stretch Straight-Leg Pant, 212 872 8747

For those of you who are scared of color, this look is the cure for the “sea of black boredom” in your closet. It’s just enough graphic that you feel like you’ve really pushed your style boundaries, yet enough black that you haven’t strayed too far from your one true love.

Three-Quarter-Sleeve Jacket & Poplin Skirt, 212 872 8747

Do you dare to wear pea green and chartreuse together? I do. I’ve always loved shades in the same family paired together. The clincher though, is the divine sculptural volume of this look.  Then separate it out for even more chic options.
