Designer Spotlight: Carolina Herrera & her poodle, Gaspar

Carolina Herrera & Gaspar

Every season Carolina Herrera includes a one-of-a-kind signature print to her collection.  This Pre-Fall it was her toy poodle, Gaspar.   A permanent installation at Herrera office, the spritely Gaspar joins Mrs. Herrera at work, loyally staying by the designer’s side, watching the process of her collections unfold each day.  They’ve been together a long time — Mrs Herrera and Gaspar — and it’s odd to see one without the other.  Sure, Gaspar has his predilections: he likes a scratch behind the ears; long, lingering walks through Bryant Park; and he never, NEVER misses a meal (naturally he lunches with the Herrera team).  He is also bilingual; he and Mrs. Herrera often converse in Spanish.  Their peppered conversations can inspire quite the giggle.

So it was only a matter of time before he was immortalized into print.  And it’s a lovely one, isn’t it?  Royal blue and bright white printed on silk charmeuse… you almost can sense Gaspar’s tail swishing along the swinging A-line skirt.

We couldn’t imagine visiting the Carolina Herrera offices without Gaspar; he’s quite the charming mascot. And we must confess: nothing warms the heart like hearing the click clicks of four little paws followed by a pair of Manolos coming down the hall.
