Designer Highlight: Lela Rose
Photo: Neon Museum of Las Vegas
Lela Rose took a trip to the neon graveyards of Las Vegas and Coney Island this spring and returned with a carnival of playful prints and watered colors. Drifting between expired relics of brighter days, Lela unfolds the story of their fun house days and finds beauty in their garish glow through letter blocked silhouettes, chipped embroidery (calling upon weathered stacked signs), cyclone prints and the flickering, buzzing colors of faded lemon, periwinkle and neon tangerine. Look for feminine silhouettes that are quintessentially Lela — peplums in guipure lightbulb lace, sweetheart necklines with full, swinging skirts (perfect for dancing or pairing up with a leather bomber) and boatneck sheath dresses that hug in just the right places. So join us this Friday, February 24 as we present Lela’s latest collection on the Sixth Floor; for more details, call 212 872 2602.

About Lela Rose:
Texas native Lela Rose launched her line in 1998 after graduating from Parsons School of Design and working for both Christian Francis Roth and Richard Tyler. Delicate embellishments on separates and dresses with hand-finished details are the designer’s hallmarks…which were seen on her dog, Stitch, during our Fashion’s Night Out Best in Show. She’s also an excellent chef.
