Designer Focus: Pierre Balmain
BALMAIN ENCORE,
BALMAIN TOUJOURS
Since its foundation in 1945 by Pierre Balmain, the legendary house has been synonymous with Parisienne chic, but ironically, Balmain has gotten younger lately, mixing its iconic verve with a rock-and-roll sensibility. The new Pierre Balmain line has a fiercely sophisticated, haute rocker attitude. New to 5F, this edgy addition presents Pierre Balmain in an accessible light; separates include a black & white mash-up of paisley, stripes & zebra-print blouses, jackets & blazers primed for layered looks of tough-girl cool, and filmy skirts & dresses that drift and dance in the breeze.
Touches of the Balmain collection are perceived through the collection’s black & white storyboard, graphic prints and downtown vibe. This stark palette is made electric with shouts of vibrant colors from rosy red and Spring’s popular chartreuse. In-store, you’ll find denim & gingham vests featuring hand-painted zebra stripes; you’ll also see lemon-yellow silk dresses and painted cut-off denim shorts that further its boho rocker-girl edge.
Perfect the Pierre Balmain look by mixing soft, silky fabrics with leather touches (like shorts, jackets & such) and by giving your accessories a fine-tuned sharpening (think Joomi Lim & Eddie Borgo). Call 212 872 2843 for more details or browse the collection online.
