A twist of technology brought Akris designer Albert Kriemler to our Fourth Floor Wednesday morning.

Joined by W Magazine’s Alex White and our own Linda Fargo, Albert introduced and discussed the inspiration behind his Fall 2010 Collection. However, Albert wasn’t in New York; with the help of Skype, he smiled to us from a plasma screen. Inspired by this intricate combination of technology and fashion, W Magazine’s Editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi virtually hugged the designer.

As Albert sat in his St. Gallen atelier, he mused on Swiss Alp views and how lake photography had translated to a short-sleeved dress (scroll down to see video of him discussing the dress). While considering his vision, Albert commented that the “trapezoid crystals…reminded (him) of broken ice crystals on a lake” which transposed into integral elements of several of his pieces. As the models made their way down the makeshift Fourth Floor BG runway, Albert gave insight into his Fall 2010 Collection and explained each of the looks that the models presented. Alex and Linda, dressed in Akris, were impressed with the feminine and couture cuts of Albert’s jackets and admired the use of the eye-catching camel color – a key fall trend. From Albert’s signature Ai bag carefully designed with woven horsehair to styles revived from his archives, the new Akris Fall 2010 Collection is full of inspiration.
