BGs Best in Show: Chaser from John Barrett Salon
If you’re a regular to Bergdorf Goodman, then you may just recognize Chaser… she is our Eloise… our lady of the Ninth Floor and best friend to master of all coifs, John Barrett. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, she’ll make an elevator cameo as she sets off for her afternoon walks.
This is her second year to walk BGs Best in Show.
1) This isn’t your first trot down the BGs Best in Show catwalk… what did you wear last year?
Last year Christian Cota designed for me, so many fittings….. yawn! Mixing with all the uppity dogs is not my idea of fun, I just dream of the day that my ambition to be the NY times food critic is fulfilled so people don’t just focus on my “beauty.” But, you know, I do love roaming Bergdorf Goodman… so I thought I should at least make an appearance again this year. Plus I promised Alabama of Marchesa that I’d be back.
2) Care to share inspiration for this year’s costume?
Can’t comment right now as three designers are vying and you know how sensitive these “artists” are… however, people don’t usually look at me and say feminine or ladylike… so I may try to change that this year. Just the other day on the elevator (I was off to Central Park, you know), I overheard Linda Fargo saying something about gl’amour being Fall’s big look… and you know you cannot dismiss the styling wisdom of Linda.
3) There are a lot of dog parks in Fashion City… which one’s your favorite?
Although I often power walk with friends at the Union Square Dog Run, my true love is Central Park. Occasionally, I throw on a stole and sit quietly at Gramercy Park. Dogs aren’t allowed there but I’m usually mistaken for an eccentric Manhattanite and am left alone.
4) If you win BGs Best in Show this year, what will you do?
Well, I’m going to donate my earnings to the North Shore Animal League. There are so many perfectly wonderful dogs and cats there who are waiting to be rescued!
