BG Recipes: The Burnt Hipster
The new off-menu Burnt Hipster perfects the art of showmanship. Take note and borrow this tasteful trick at your next gathering. The enhanced flavor created by lightly caramelizing the orange peel’s oil will be an evening winner. But remember, practice makes perfect.
1 1/2 oz Widow Jane Bourbon
1/4 oz Fernet-Branca
1/4 oz Agave
Juice from 1/2 a lemon (recommended to squeeze using a lemon juicer)
1. Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice
2. Vigorously shake the shaker until it is cold to the touch
3. Strain the drink into a small glass filled with ice
Optional: Garnish with a flamed orange peel
Flamed Orange Peel:
Using a knife or vegetable peeler, cut a small piece of skin from an orange.
Squeeze the rind so that the oil from it passes through a flame between the rind and the glass.
