5F Summer: Khirma Eliazov’s Opulent Adventure
Istanbul's Vibrance1 of 1
For our pre-fall transition I wanted to capture the vibrant hues that embody both Istanbul and Kiev. Istanbul is a gorgeous city full of extremes. From religion to urban life, the street market commotion to the opulent use of colors: yellow, gold and green are particularly used in such a considered and calm execution.
Moscow's Red Square1 of 1
While visiting St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow’s Red Square, I tried to memorize the variety of colors that adorned each dome, spire and window. The color pairings were eye-catching and timeless — the same way they would be in your favorite accessory.
At the Ballet1 of 1
On the Russian street I was surrounded by red and bright emerald but inside the the dancers brought to life a variety of tones including dark navy, rich burgundy and hints of gleaming copper… They were the perfect colors to finish off my fall 2013 collection and my wonderful trip to Russia.
A Day in the Monastary1 of 1
It’s no secret that some of the greatest attractions in Russia are its churches. This photograph represents a fraction of the Pechersk Lavra Monastery Complex in Kiev, Ukraine where my trip began. Not only was this one of the first pictures I took during my stay, but it also symbolizes the impetus of my pre-fall collection. I love how the teal blue beautifully complemented the bright yellow gold and contrasted against white accents.
St. Petersberg1 of 1
This week’s 5F Summer follows handbag and accessory designer Khirma Eliazov as she recounts her adventures across Ukraine, Russia and Turkey, and how her trip inspired a world of colors, mystery and creativity for her newest collection.
As my international reach expands, I find myself constantly traveling and finding inspiration in new and often unusual surroundings.
My pre-fall and fall collections were inspired by my recent whirlwind trip to Istanbul, Kiev, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
