“Shoes have personalities,” explains Serena Uziyel, the Turkish designer of Sanayi 313’s iconic flats, which are fashioned from luxurious natural materials and intricately embroidered. Inspired by opulent Ottoman culture and handcrafted in Florence, Italy, the flamboyant shoes propose, in Uziyel’s words, “a modern approach to an effortless, very personal elegance.”
Share your origin story:
While I was studying at Parsons School of Design, I had many different design experiences and realized that shoes excite me. After living in various cities, from New York and Milan to Florence and Alicante, I went back to Istanbul and built the Sanayi 313 shoe and handbag collection with the Karavil brothers: Enis and Amir.
Describe the Spring/Summer 2017 Sanayi 313 Collection:
It perfectly reconnects the past and the present, as well as Middle Eastern and Western references, by incorporating contrasting elements into impeccably crafted creations with a charming appeal.
