RéVive is a luxury skincare line developed by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Gregory Brown, who set out to restore the skin’s youthful glow that dims as we age. Each product has been scientifically formulated with Bio-Renewal Technology, inspired by a Nobel Prize winning science that Dr. Brown used to heal burn victims. To celebrate the launch of RéVive’s new body line, exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman, we sat down with Dr. Brown to talk about the effectiveness of his products, his 3 winter skincare essentials and more. Read the full interview below and shop RéVive now in store on the Beauty Level and online at BG.com.
Bergdorf Goodman: Can you tell us why you started RéVive and what makes your products so effective?
Dr. Gregory Brown: I am a Plastic Surgeon by training and I never set out to have a skincare brand. As you might imagine it takes a long time just to be a plastic surgeon, but out of research I did during my residency for plastics on burn wounds, I found that certain molecules and certain biologics could make burn wounds heal faster and we applied those to aging skin and the principles are the same to reverse the signs of aging. That is a short way to tell a very long story!
BG: What are your 3 winter skincare essentials?
GB: Three winter skincare essentials: first of all skincare should be simple and easy because it has to be done over and over, religiously. I always say that it is like braces on teeth. You have to have that continuous, steady pressure and you have to do it religiously. Having said that, for the winter I think that simple moisturization is really important, sunscreen is important, and cover. Winter skin is a real phenomenon because we are animals and evolutionarily the body, as soon as days get shorter, starts shunting blood away from the skin because it is sending it to the heart, the lungs, and the brain. So skin by nature in the winter has less blood flow, which is why it is more easily damaged.
BG: If you could only give someone one piece of skincare advice, what would it be?
GB: I will cheat and give you two pieces of advice. One is of course the most important thing that I think anybody can do, which is to protect from the sun. The second would be everything in moderation.
BG: What is your favorite Bergdorf Goodman memory?
GB: A few years ago, Bergdorf Goodman amazing Christmas windows had a piece of artwork in it that my partner coveted. It was a picture of a well-known author and Patricia [Saxby, Bergdorf Goodman’s Divisional Merchandise Manager of Beauty] had the artist duplicate it so that I could give it to him as a surprise Christmas present. It was really nice and we still have it at home.
