Chanel’s Iconic J12 Watch Gets Reimagined

Photography by Kevin Tachman

CHANEL debuted its classic J12 watch in 2000, revolutionizing the world of watchmaking with its black ceramic design inspired by the house’s former artistic director Jacques Helleu and his passion for automobiles and sailing. Case in point: the J12 is actually named after the America’s Cup racing class.

Fast forward twenty years and Arnaud Chastaingt, director of the CHANEL watch creation studio has given the timepiece a makeover, whilst keeping its legendary identity in tact. To show off the J12’s new look (it features a refined bezel with 40 notches instead of 30, ceramic numbers on the dial, and a thicker case), we tapped Vanessa Hong of the Haute Pursuit who test drove the watch at CHANEL’s Yacht Club pop-up at Sunset Beach on Shelter Island.

See all of the imagery below and shop the J12 now on our Main Floor.
