Professor Augustinus Bader of the University of Leipzig in Germany is considered to be a pioneer and one of the world’s leading experts in the fields of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. He has had an extensive 30-year long career as a researcher in medicine and created a breakthrough medical treatment that works by activating the body’s regenerative processes. This led Bader to bring his healing treatment to the masses, which is how his two products, The Cream and The Rich Cream came to be. Bergdorf Goodman: You are considered to be one of the world’s leading experts in the fields of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. In your 25+ years of
experience, what have been the greatest findings and breakthroughs?
Augustinus Bader: Age related degenerative changes as well as major trauma represent areas where modern medicine has reached its limitations and conditions start to happen which can severely impact our quality of life and well-being. I continue to work on developing ways to eventually overcome these 2 medical roadblocks in an effort to achieve better health. There is still a lot of research to be done, but some initial findings are being implemented and tested, which makes me very happy.
BG: Can you tell us about the differences between your products, The Cream and The Rich Cream? What are the benefits of each and how would you suggest that an individual determine which one is best for them?
AB: The skin care and skin protective benefits of The Cream and The Rich Cream are closely related—the choice of formula is a matter of personal preference and skin type. I recommend The Cream for those with normal to oily skin and The Rich Cream for those with dry skin or for those who require extra hydration. Some people use the lighter version during the day and the rich at night. Warmer climates tend to favor the lighter version and colder climates the richer one.
BG: What led you to create and develop these products and what sets them apart in the current skincare landscape?
AB: I had never imagined that I might create a skincare product for consumers. I’m a medical researcher, a clinician, and a university professor. I’ve only ever worked in a medical or academic setting. It was the desire to further the clinical testing of helping patients and especially children with severe burns and other medical innovations that led me to create the Augustinus Bader brand with my business partner, Charles Rosier. This brand was created to fund important research and truly help others.
BG: What advice would you give to people who are building a personalized skincare routine?
AB: Skin is a living organ—it is important to focus on skin health rather than temporary solutions. The creams works best if the TFC8 is the first point of contact with the skin. For optimum results, I would recommend gentle cleansing and toning followed by the Augustinus Bader cream that is best suited for your skin type—either The Cream or The Rich Cream. If you are using other skincare products as part of your routine to target specific issues, then I would recommend where possible to apply our cream first and let it fully absorb into the skin before applying the others.
BG: You’ve been quoted saying “Everything your body needs, it already knows.” Can you expand on that for us?
AB: Until now, stem cell science has focused on removing stem cells to work with them outside the body, or using foreign stem cells from plants and animals. You are born with billions of stem and more specialized cells—and you die with billions of those cells. There is no shortage of stem cells in your body all our life, and we all have a mechanism in our genetic code that can be rebuilt without the need for manipulation.
