Live Window Revue: Alec Mapa
Meet Alec Mapa: Internationally loved sweetheart who’s always ready to send us into fits of giggles. Emcee for our Fashion’s Night Out Live Window Revue, Alec is ready to share his comedic wanderlust with Fifth Avenue.
BG: So this will be your first time to grace Bergdorf Goodman’s windows… but is this your first time to perform in any windows?
AM: Yes. Not unless you count that one summer in the red light district in Amsterdam
BG: Interesting… won’t delve farther into that one… Speaking of performing, what’s your most memorable on-stage blunder?
AM: Someone in the audience once bought me three shots of vodka and dared me to drink them onstage. So I did. Well, I’m a lightweight; so like twenty-minutes into my act I had no idea where I was or what I was doing there. Luckily the audience was just as drunk as I was and couldn’t tell the difference.
BG: So. When it comes to the stage, do you have any favorite costumes?
AM: I was dressed head-to-toe in full-on Geisha drag on Broadway in M.Butterfly for an entire year. Does that count? Because I rocked that look.
BG: Absolutely. Without a doubt. Now, twisting it around a bit: what’s your worst childhood fashion memory?
AM: I once wore a choker made of puka shells to bed and the necklace broke in my sleep. A shell lodged in my ear, and I had to be rushed to the hospital to have it removed.
BG: Yikes! That sounds horrible!! Sounds like you need something grand to cast that thought away… so what’s your guilty pleasure?
AM: A guilty pleasure is something you’d be mortified to have someone catch you enjoying. For me that would have to be The Kardashians. I’m mortified.
