#BGWindows Instagram Challenge
It’s a question many of you have asked us in recent months: What do you do with your windows props? Where do they go? Do you reuse them? Throw them out? Sell them? Can I buy them??
Truthfully, much of what we create is saved for future windows and in-store visual installations (just look at our windows archive to see repeat visitors). We’re big collectors and recyclers here — an ivory polar bear may get a new lavender coat or a musical menagerie may discover a new craft… until now.
You see, we find this whole social media thing quite inspiring… (in fact we’re obsessed) and we’ve enjoyed your #BGWindows Instagrams so much that we even included a live-feed of them on all of our Windows blog posts. And we’ve listened every time you’ve tweeted @bergdorfs and asked her if we ever would consider parting with one of our windows props. So this year we invite you to Instagram our windows for a chance to win a prop from this year’s holiday installation or a print from The Coveteur’s extraordinary behind-the-scenes journey of this year’s creation (see above for a glimpse of what’s to come).
Of course there are rules — and note that David Hoey himself will be joining with The Coveteur to pick their two favorite shots. To be considered, please include the hashtag #BGWindows in your image caption and please: be respectful of others’ entries and limit yours to three a day. David likes wit and perspective so you may want to consider those things before you share. You have from the day that the windows are revealed until January 3, 2013.
This year’s theme is BG Follies (David and our visual team spent over a year creating this extraordinary homage to Vaudeville Reviews, Busby Berkeley’s Hollywood musicals and the sumptuous atmosphere of the Ziegfeld Follies), and we cannot wait to see how you capture the fashion and drama that will be revealed.
