2013 Holiday Windows Fun Facts

Tomorrow’s the big day! Holidays on Ice will be revealed at 6pm sharp.  But, before we pull back the curtains, we wanted to share a few fun facts about our 2013 Holiday Windows:

2,521 — Times #BGWindows has been used on Instagram

1,000 — Linear feet, when placed end-to-end, of icicles in our Fifth Avenue windows

500 — Sweets in the Valentine’s Day window: 200 cakes, 300 cookies and 500 pieces of candy, approximately

365  — Days spent preparing, brainstorming and creating our Holiday Windows, at least

100 — Persons involved in the creation of our Holiday Windows, from day 1 until the reveal

34 — Windows total, including Fifth Avenue (10), 58th Street (4), 57th Street (9), Men’s Fifth Avenue (4) and Men’s 58th Street (7)

15 — Days spent installing the mannequins, props and pieces into the actual Fifth Avenue windows

— Feet is the tallest mannequin featured in window

— Holidays are re-imagined covered in ice: 4th of July, Arbor Day, April Fools, Valentine’s Day and Halloween in our large Fifth Avenue windows, as well as Thanksgiving, Mardi Gras, New Year’s Eve and Groundhog Day in the smaller Fifth Avenue vitrines

STREB Extreme Action company members descended from our Fourth Floor, dancing and dropping snowflakes upon passersby, to officially reveal the 2013 Holiday Windows

3 — Boroughs in which artisans hand-create our holiday windows props (Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens)

1 — 3D Printer featured

— Custom Naeem Khan gown created for the 2013 Holidays on Ice Fifth Avenue Windows 

Our Women’s Fifth Avenue windows contain twenty five birds, eight insects, two snails, and one each: bear,  llama , monkey, giraffe, elephant, horse, ground hog, squirrel, miniature poodle, frog, tortoise, lizard, komodo dragon,  oversize spider, as well as one slightly hidden mouse.
