Since 1990, the Ateliers de Verneuil-en-Halatte, spread over 21,000 m2 in a little village of the same name, just north of Paris, have been perpetuating the development and production of bags by the House of CHANEL. It is there that a team of craftspeople, guided by referents, carry out the 180 operations required to bring an iconic CHANEL bag to life.
To continue the celebration of the launch of CHANEL’s Paris-New York 2019/20 Métiers d’art collection at Bergdorf Goodman, we tapped Pernille Teisbaek to visit the maison’s aforementioned atelier to witness first hand the making of one of its iconic 2.55 bags.
