BG Recipes: The Gotham Salad

A New York Classic

When you sit down for a civilized lunch at BG Restaurant you may revel in lovely views of Central Park, plot your strategy through the store and enjoy unrivaled people watching.  Then, in all likelihood, you will order a Gotham Salad.  What began thirty years ago as an updated take on the classic New York chopped salad has become an icon in its own right.  Chef Michael Perricone says that over 1 million have been served.  That’s right: 1 million.

Many people know what they’re going to order without looking at the menu.  Many people plan their visits to the store so it overlaps with the lunch hour. Now’s your chance to make it at home, though you’ll miss out on the view. The restaurant now offers the option of vinaigrette dressing—but why mess with a proven winner?
