Annie & the BG Windows

Previous Next

Our holiday windows this year pay homage to entertainment of the 1930′s such as Ziegfeld Follies, Busby Berkeley’s Hollywood musicals and Vaudeville revues. One of the most cherished and heart-warming musicals was set during this Art Deco era and the Great Depression. This Fall,  Annie, starring Lilla Crawfordcelebrates its 35th Anniversary production at the Palace Theatre. The classic New York based musical, set in 1933, is full of historic places in the City including, yours truly, Bergdorf Goodman.

If you watch closely you can see our BG Windows in the background symbolizing Daddy Warbucks taking Annie on a trip to BG to buy her the emerald green coat. Her new Wool Melton coat is accented with velvet buttons and a white faux collar and because of the extensive choreography, her buttons are actually earth magnets. Susan Hilferty, the Tony Award winning Costume Designer, explained that the emerald color was chosen so Annie can standout among all the colors during the NYC act.
