Thoughts from the Runway: Prada S/S 12

Very nice show from Prada. She seemed to riff on a prim American 1950′s girlfriend of a hotrod greaser guy. She wore lots of plisse, knee length skirts w hi neck sleeveless shell tops, ofter w boxy crop boyfriend jckts, or topcoats. Colors were beautiful…lots of iced pastels, with strong punctuations of ruby, and cognac, emerald. She did some literal hot-rod car print, and flame graphics. There were also some wonderful floral eyelets over-embroidered on the outerwear. The “evening” story riffed on biker studs but in Prada gemstones instead of hardcore metal.
Not a platform or wedge in sight as I recall. Editorialized stilettos w FLAMES off the heels. The top handled bags were quite ladylike in scale, a quite clean, lovely colors …not tricked out. Reminded me of when we called them “purses”.
