Shoe Spotlight: George Esquivel
There’s a singular satisfaction when something looks classic and fresh at the same time. That’s what brilliant design is, and it’s a very rare thing. When we saw George Esquivel’s take on Belgian Loafers we smiled broadly, because they looked exactly right for the moment and as if they’d been around forever.
We’ve celebrated Mr. Esquivel before, the handmade shoemaker from California. We’re partial to his sturdy boots and brogues, but here he takes a lighter touch with leather-soled loafers in different colored linen (there’s also a smart version entirely in leather). They come with a selection of tassels so you can reinvent your pair depending on the occasion or your own whim.
Paired with a seersucker suit and a gin and tonic, you’re ready for whatever the season throws at you.
