Italian heritage brand Kiton is always finding new ways to evolve, while remaining true to itself in regards to its tailoring DNA. We caught up with Chief Executive Officer, Antonio De Matteis during MFWM to hear about the inspiration behind the latest collection, the new and exciting materials the brand is working with, and how the Kiton man has progressed over the years. Bergdorf Goodman: What was the inspiration behind the collection?
Antonio De Matteis: The collection is inspired by the contemporary man who, since traveling even more, is looking for more comfortable clothing. Nowadays, the behavior of the modern consumer is characterized by a new trend: he purchases according to the different moments of the day. The same suit can be worn with a hoodie or a t-shirt on the occasion of free time, and with a shirt and tie for a business meeting. The keyword of the fashion market is versatility.
BG: How has the Kiton man evolved over the years?
ADM: Now, more than ever, the Kiton man is interested in a sporty collection and we can proudly state that Kiton achieved brilliant results and improvements in sportswear without making compromises to our tailoring DNA.
BG: Where is the Kiton man going this season?
ADM: The Kiton man is always searching for quality, exclusivity, and uniqueness with a modern taste. His curiosity makes him a very difficult customer and trying to satisfy his needs is an extraordinary and exciting challenge that we enjoy working towards achieving.
BG: Are there any new materials/fabrications incorporated into the collection this season that you are particularly excited about?
ADM: Kiton is renowned for its constant research and innovation in fabrics and raw materials. This season we are presenting a new offering of unique textiles both in formalwear and sportswear. And every fabric is exclusively created by Kiton for Kiton.
BG: What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about Goodman’s?
ADM: I think Goodman’s has the best windows in the world. To me, Goodman’s is the men’s flagship of the world and we are happy and proud of the work that we keep doing together.
