I’ve just returned from three weeks of European menswear fashion shows, trade fairs, and market appointments in London, Florence, Milan, and Paris previewing the Fall 2016 collections. What an exciting season it was, filled with an especially rich variety of outerwear, tailoring, sportswear, shoes and accessories – all certain to inspire. Here’s a quick preview of coming attractions for next Fall. -Bruce Pask, Goodman’s Fashion Director
True West – The American southwest inspires colorful graphics, beading, and copper embellishments.
Decorated Officers – Boldly embroidered and colorfully patched outerwear with regimental gold buttons will let them know who’s in charge.
That 70’s Show – Statement pieces of the seventies like flared trousers, patched suede jackets, and band collar shirts have been given the 21st century treatment.
Belted Coat – Whether it’s a classic trench in glen plaid or a single-breasted cashmere fly-front, coats looked great when cinched at the waist.
Shades of Brown – Varied hues of this rich, dark earth tone gave tailoring and coats a nice fresh look.
Shearling – Whether it’s a simple collar and trim on a jacket or a fully lined coat, shearling outerwear will help you cozy up against the cold.
In The Navy – Classic, short peacoats and longer officer’s coats in classic navy and black are definitely on active duty for Fall.
Velvet Goldmine – Eveningwear in rich jewel tones and classic black gets an extra sheen.
Made in the UK – Plaids, tartans, tweeds and other richly textured fabrics common to the British Isles saw a resurgence this season.
