Bruce Pask, Goodman’s Fashion Director, has just finished his seasonal tour of the global menswear fashion capitals of London, Florence, Milan, Paris, and NYC where he has seen almost a hundred fashion shows and presentations featuring next Spring’s collections. Here is a sneak peek at some of what’s in store for next year’s warmer weather. Get your wish lists ready.
The New Hawaiian
That classic staple of the island life, the floral printed short sleeve shirt, should be a part of your new Summer look. It’s perfect with a pair of shorts, dressed up with trousers, or worn under a cotton sportjacket. Mahalo!
Athletic inspired nylon anoraks and windbreakers have been given the decorative treatment with bold color and vivid pattern adding to their very practical utility. Perfect for Glastonbury, Yosemite, or wherever your travels take you.
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Dickie Greenleaf and his 1950’s la dolce vita lifestyle on the Mediterranean has often inspired menswear designers. Think chic, simple convertible collared shirts worn with pleated pants and espadrilles and unbuttoned shirts under sportjackets and suits worn with sandals.
The Polo Returns
The short sleeved polo shirt had been overshadowed by the simple knit crewneck of late, but now that fine gauge collared classic is getting its day in the sun. It adds a bit of panache to a casual sportjacket and looks elegant when worn on its own.
The New Summer Blends
Lightweight summer suits have been given a dose of durability. Linen has been blended with wool and silk to help it better stand up to wrinkles while also adding nice depth and surface interest to the fabric. The texture looks great when worn with either a t-shirt or a shirt and tie.
