Men don’t have a lot of accessories—watches, bags, sunglasses are the big three.  So, it’s understandable if they decide to dive into the deep end.  For the obsessed—you know who you are—sunglasses are always in season, but as the weather turns warmer then it’s really time for action. View More

George Esquivel Slippers, 212 339 3343

There’s a singular satisfaction when something looks classic and fresh at the same time. That’s what brilliant design is, and it’s a very rare thing. When we saw George Esquivel’s take on Belgian Loafers we smiled broadly, because they looked exactly right for the moment and as if they’d been around forever. View More

Made-to-Measure Highlight: Shoes

3 29 2012

Men's Shoe Shop, 212 339 3334

When men find a shoe company they like, their allegiance does not waver. With the same devotion they show to their favorite Scotch, they wait with baited breath for the latest models, and go to great lengths to seek them out. And, like Scotch, if the company is under the radar, and makes a great product by hand, that’s even better. Bergdorf Goodman is a destination for many exclusive collections, particularly Italian companies, like Bontoni, (which is taking part in The Made-to-Measure event, now in full swing throughout the store). It’s beautifully made, the fabric is just right, the fit is unrivalled—when you move it moves without resistance. Like all well-tailored clothing, it provides you with peace of mind.

A man may wear a shirt everyday, and yet too often they are lacking. That’s not a problem with Charvet. View More

Wrist Bands

Over the course of SXSW you’re likely to accumulate various wristbands from the parties and concerts you attended. Untended, they begin to grow up your arm. But a funny thing happens, people wear them as a badge of honor to all the events they’ve attended—if they happen to be printed VIP, all the better. In a showcase where people are trying to discover the next big thing, wristbands are a testament that you’ve arrived. View More

SXSW: Hudson Moore & Trust

3 18 2012

Hudson Moore

When it comes to country, there’s a fine distinction between Nashville and Texas.  And while most of us may not be able to discern the distinction between the mainstream (George Strait, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood) and Texas sound (Pat Green, Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughn), it is a notion that runs deep through the heart of Texas.  This SXSW we followed one of the state’s emerging artists, Hudson Moore, as he forged his way through four shows in just a few days.  Equally talented is Canadian trio, TRUST.  David Coggins reports on the next big things.
