1. Start with dry hair. If hair needs a boost of texture, spray in a dry shampoo like Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Shampoo (212 872 2756)…this also helps give fine hair a little volume.

2. If hair needs shine, apply a spritz of Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray (212 872 2756). This also makes for a good finishing spray.

3. Part hair. You will need one side part…this should be slightly off center to the left or right.

4. Starting at the top, section hair into three equal parts to begin your braid. The style of braid we’re creating is called a “cornrow”. It looks like a traditional braid, but it connects additional hair as you go.

5. Begin braiding a small section, adding hair to each strand of the three strand as you braid. This connects the braid to the rest of the hair. Add one piece at a time and continue until you reach the back of the nape.

6. Now repeat the aforementioned steps and complete the second braid on the other side of the part.

7. Continue until you reach the back of the nape. Secure the ends with clear elastics or hair pins.

8. Once braids are complete, add a more playful and romantic feel by loosening the sections bit. This gives a slightly lived in and perfectly imperfect shape.

9. Finish with Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray (212 872 2756).

Voila! Romantic Side Braids.

Just last night we visited the shoes salons on Two and 5F.  We sifted through hundreds and hundreds of styles just to identify what you and your closet need.

1. THE I-FINALLY-FOUND-YOU SUMMER SANDAL
It’s tough… finding that perfect summer sandal.  But we’ve found them!  First, there’s Prada.  This may be the most positively perfect summer sandal: thin, but with ample support.  Looking for color? Consider Sigerson Morrison’s metallic color blocks.  And finally, if you’re lucky enough to spot it, one of the last pairs of the Valentino Rockstud Collection (sadly most of their kitten heels disappeared on day one).  This Naked Rockstud gladiator has just enough lift so that the ankle strap won’t cut your leg short while the clear straps and studs give you an almost barefoot appeal.

2. THE.POWER.PUMP.
Every season our wardrobe needs a power pump update.  It’s like changing your tires.  So this season consider Manolo Blahnik or Stuart Weitzman.  Manolo’s BB and Pachas have taken Fashion City by a storm and these two cap-toe styles will carry you through next winter and spring.  And who wouldn’t be drawn to the royal blue hue of this Stuart Weitzman strappy pump?  Its super girl appeal will demand attention during meetings and meet-ups.

5. THAT PERFECT TROT AROUND ANKLE BOOT
As much as we bask in summer’s heat, we can’t ignore fall’s chilling return.  So why not be prepared by investing on a seriously good ankle boot?  One that can be worn now but will be equally satisfying come October, like Rag & Bone’s wildly popular Newbury ankle boot in (!) gold.  Or you can follow the effortless casual cool Parisienne/jet-setter chic of Isabel Marant & Tabitha Simmons with a pair of their classic ankle boots.

Hosted by our own Josh Schulman and Linda Fargo (looking ridiculously chic in Roland Mouret), guests (including the darling and talented Maggie Gyllenhaal) enjoyed a menu of spring salad with farm-fresh strawberries, black sea bass with spring artichoke barigoule, filet mignon with truffled mashed potatoes and a summer dessert of warm berry and rhubarb crisp.

We couldn’t decide which was more delicious: Roland’s chic city dresses or BG Restaurant chef Marybeth Boller’s summertime plates.

And what better way to unveil the new environment than with the opulent CHANEL Paris-Edimbourg Metiers d’Art Collection?  Shown on a freezing, misty December night at Linlithgow Palace just west of Edinburgh, this Fall Preview collection presented a moody romance of tweed, tartan and cashmere.

Here, Karl Lagerfled combined the house’s signature workmanship while evoking Scottish heritage through refined tweeds, cable-stitched leathers and, naturally, a trademark tartan print.  The end result? An emotional combination of French and Scottish history touched by Elizabethan accents and modern aplomb.

2. Start at outer corner, placing tip of Diorshow Art Pen Liner on lid at about a 45 degree angle.

3.  With a steady yet fluid motion, drag tip from outer corner to lash line.

4. To really intensify the line, start slightly below your original start point and increase the thickness of the wing…dragging the line from the outer to lower inner eye.

5. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes…and go knock ‘em out!
