Last night we pulled out all the stops to celebrate the reveal of our 2013 Holiday Windows. Called Holidays on Ice, our Fifth Avenue windows envision calendar holidays cast in an icy world. Opening this wintry wonderland, emcee Andy Cohen sparked laughs along Fifth Avenue as the curtains were drawn to reveal over 365-days worth of work and preparation. Dazzling (and surprising the crowd), talented extreme action acrobats from STREB Extreme Action Company catapulted from the store’s fourth floor, calling upon snowflakes as they danced wildly in thin (and ferociously freezing) air. Smartphones aloft, passersby instagrammed the performance in hopes of winning tickets to STREB’s current show, Forces.
After they descended to our beloved sidewalk, the five Brooklyn-based STREB performers joined with our windows team to pull back the curtains to reveal Holidays on Ice. Following the breathless unveiling, revelers spilled inside to celebrate, shop and support New Yorkers for Children during a jovial affair including pop-up shops with Moncler and Figue Swimwear, party decorating tips from Bronson Van Wyck and a host of book signings from David Hoey, Lori Goldstein, Aerin Lauder, Betty Halbreich (who joined tumblr just yesterday), Dean Rhys-Morgan and Amy Fine Collins, Erica Domesek, Carleton Varney, Aerin Lauder and many more. Bernard Maisner was on hand to calligraph names while the Graphic Image team personalized leathergoods.
Celebrations unfolded on every floor as designers like Eddie Borgo, Lorraine Schwartz, Dannijo’s Danielle and Jodie Snyder, Wes Gordon, Monica Rich Kosann, and Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs enjoyed to the tunes of DJs Air Zaire, D’Nice, Michna and Aire (who even brought her own vinyl) as guests took part of an apres ski and sun party on Six, Pointy Snout caviar tasting on Seven and snowball bon bons on the Beauty Level. Eventually (following a viewing of Manolo Blahnik’s short film Jealousy), a dance party erupted in the shoe salon as guests circled ’round the martini and caviar ice bar.
