THE FESTIVE SEASON

THE HOLIDAY SHOP
We like a good tradition, and, when possible, we like to improve upon it—that’s why we enjoy ornaments when they’re a little bit cheeky. Take this year’s edition of our beloved Linda ornament—that would be our fashion director Linda Fargo. Her ornament sold out quickly last year, so consider yourself warned. There’s more: Margaret Larkin’s beloved decorated trees, brilliant hand-blown ornaments from Germany and Poland, and chocolate everywhere you turn. Our very dapper Santa will be on hand and it’s a good bet that the kids will ask for the moving life-size polar bear or our exclusive Steiff stuffed bear—it’s about the size of a small car. After you tick off everybody on your list head over to BG Restaurant, enjoy views of Central Park, and toast yourself for what a thoughtful gift-giver you are, you deserve it.

IT’S SHOWTIME
Nothing says holidays in New York like our windows. They’re a year in the making and a tradition that draws a worldwide audience (and more photographs than you can count). This year’s theme, “BG Follies of 2012,” is inspired by the magnificent atmosphere of American entertainment of the 1920s and 30s. Get ready for art deco, Busby Berkeley musicals and vaudeville revues. The stars themselves will be showgirls, a musician, and an all-girl orchestra. And a multi-talented dog trainer (yes, we have a soft spot for dogs—who could forget Salty, the canine star who ran through the store during last year’s holiday video?). So head down to Fifth Avenue with an appetite for high fantasy, and your singing voice in tune.
