FRONTLINES WITH FARGO

FRONTLINES WITH FARGO
Why does this pair of silver and gold metallic paper-punch-holed high-heel sandals speak to me? Where can we go together? Why does an Yves Klein blue floor-grazing column dress rivet me? And how is it that now, for the first time in my life, I can see myself in pastels? What gives? Perhaps I’m simply tuning in to the seasonal instincts of human nature and feeling a yen for transformation. Fantastic and ever-changing, fashion gives us that primordial renewal, and this Resort season is exceptionally inspiring! I already crave wide-leg cropped pants to show off the new erogenous zone, the ankle, and of course my new mixed-metallic heels. I know I won’t be immune to the unexpected and innovative pattern play that Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy is springing on us. I already feel my fashion wings spreading, and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

BANDWIDTH
This was not a roundup of the usual nautical suspects. These were stripes of every persuasion, every direction and every proportion. Up and down, sideways, chevrons and diagonals! You name it. It’s a jaunty new take on a Resort favorite.

CLEAN SLATE
The freshest noncolor color of all—pure white! The crisper, the cleaner, the better! Why don’t we wear it more often? And I mean wear it! Not just a shirt, but all the way. And newest of all and not to be missed is the white handbag, one of the sharpest and most attractive accessories to come along in a while.

LES FLEURS
Pick one! Pick two! A bouquet is even better! Nothing hails the onset of Spring like a garden’s worth of flowers. We loved these blossoms in all their variety: in sequins, interfaced with lace, growing along a hem or joyfully scattered all over, or head to toe.

The Vivids
What was once the territory only of fashion’s bravest is now as natural as can be. Color, color and more color. The new wardrobe staple is bright, nearly shocking and almost neon. We love the punch of it, the unavoidable way it enlivens our day.

BLUE STREAK
OK . . . Fall had its green moment, but now we’re fixing our gaze on beautiful blues. There’s primary blue, Yves Klein’s cobalt, plus cerulean, ocean blue and blue sky blue. Some say blue is the most universal and beloved of all the hues. This season we might have to agree!
